(Unila): Vice Rector of Academic Affairs of the University of Lampung (Unila) Prof. Dr. Ir. Bujang Rahman, M.Sc., opened an event called XXIII Natural Resources Conservation (PKSDA) Week on Monday (4/22/2019). The theme of the annual event was ‘Bersih Lautku, Lestari Alamku’.

The event that was held by the Biology Students Association (Himbio) of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) Unila took place in the parking lot of the faculty.

The chief executive of the event Romekardo Sitopu said, the event was held to remind the public about the importance of maintaining, protecting and preserving nature.

“The theme this time is based on the issue that is currently trending everywhere that the marine ecosystem has been contaminated with plastic waste which is very difficult to decompose,” he said.

It is hoped that the PKSDA XXIII event can invite the public to keep the surrounding environment clean, at least, by throwing garbage in its place and minimizing the use of disposable plastics.

The event began with environmental actions on April 20, 2019 on the Coastal Coast of Margasari Village, Labuhan Maringgai District, East Lampung Regency. Continued planting of mangroves and clean beaches with a stretch of mangrove forest and seabird observations.

The event is also enlivened with a week-long exhibition and bazaar at FMIPA Unila starting from April 22 – 28 2019. In addition, various competitions also enliven the event, including Poster Design for the public which has been held from February 5 to April 21, 2019.

Then the Lampung equivalent high school / high school Biology Olympiad which will take place April 23-24 2019 will continue with the Conservation Seminar for the public on April 25, 2019. There are also Ecoband and Hand Lettering for the public on April 27, 2019 and the Conservation Kabaret for Middle and High School students on April 28, 2019.

Prof. Bujang Rahman said, currently the community does not only have to use natural resources but also preserve the natural environment. [PR Team]
