(Unila): Prof. Arshad Ahmad, a lecturer at Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), Pakistan, was invited as a consultant of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) by the HETI Project Team of Unila in collaboration with the Medical Faculty (FK) Unila to deliver his his knowledge and experience in the application of teaching learning (TL) and work integrated learning (WIL) to Unila lecturers.

Among those in present were the Vice Rector for PKTIK, Dr. Ayi Ahadiat, Dean of FK Dr. Evi Kurniawaty, Vice Dean for academic affairs, and the officials of the Unila HETI Project team.

Prof Arshad delivered a topic on “Accelerating Cutting-Edge Education through HETI, Doing More with Less: Less Grading More Learning”. He elaborated on the use of Immediate Feedback Assessment Technique (IF-AT) in student learning on campus. This technique allows individuals or teams to receive immediate feedback on their answers to true or false multiple choice questions.

Students and their groups can progressively revise their understanding of learning and identification of correct answers.IF-AT was developed by Dr Mike Epstein and Beth Epstein who addressed how multiple-choice tests were not sensitive enough to reward students who were able to eliminate two answers.

Through this method, their ideas and research evolved into the IF-AT assessment method. This led to improve lecturers’competence so that a world class university as one of Unila goals to meet the key performance indicators (IKU) and better quality of graduate outcomes could necessarily be achieved.
