(Unila): Vice Rector for Planning, Cooperation, and Information Systems (PKSI) of the University of Lampung (Unila) Prof. Dr. Ayi Ahadiat, SE, MBA, attended the Higher Education Workshop Toward a World Class University (WCU) at the Ministry of Education and Science and Technology, Friday, February 13, 2026.

The event, titled “Academia in Postnormal Ecosystem,” featured Prof. Emeritus Dato’ Seri Ir. Dr. Zaini bin Ujang, from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), as the speaker.

on that occasion Prof. Zaini Ujang shared UTM’s experience in achieving 154th QS Rank.

The strategies implemented by UTM include improving the quality of educators, improving infrastructure, and preparing a comfortable university ecosystem for learning.

The hope is that Malaysians will send their children to UTM and no longer pursue education abroad. This step is considered crucial for promoting the advancement of higher education in Malaysia and preventing the outflow of funds to support local investment.

With this success, international students began enrolling at UTM, including those from Indonesia.

On the sidelines of the activity, Prof. Ayi Ahadiat had the opportunity to discuss with Prof. Zaini Ujang regarding UTM’s success in increasing the number of publications.

Prof. Zaini explained that political will and policies from university leaders are needed, such as encouraging lecturers who have had low publication rates to participate in training that produces scientific publications.

Participation in this activity is very beneficial for Unila in aligning itself with top universities worldwide. [Muzamil Kakar]
