(Unila): The University of Lampung (Unila) is targeting revenue for the Business Management Agency (BPU) to reach IDR 15 billion per year as a step to strengthen the campus’ financial independence outside of the Single Tuition Fee (UKT).

This target was emphasized in a coordination meeting for the management of the business entity as well as the handover of the Decree of the Acting (Plt.) Chairman of the BPU, which was held on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, in the Wisma Unila courtroom.

This activity was attended by the Rector of Unila Prof. Dr. Ir. Lusmeilia Afriani, DEA, IPM., ASEAN Eng., along with Vice Rectors, Deans, Postgraduate Directors, Heads of Bureaus, Heads of Academic Support Units, and all educational staff within the BPU environment.

The Rector of Unila stated that the trend of Unila’s income from the non-UKT sector, especially BPU, shows an increase from year to year, although it is considered not optimal.

“BPU revenue continues to rise and has now reached around Rp 5 billion. However, that’s not enough. We must boldly raise our targets so that BPU truly becomes a financial pillar for the university,” said Prof. Lusmeilia.

According to him, the target of IDR 15 billion per year is not an impossible figure if managed with careful planning and fast execution.

“To reach Rp15 billion, the key is a clear business plan, measurable targets, and consistent performance evaluation. We want BPU to move faster and be more focused,” he stressed.

In line with this target, Unila officially handed over the Acting Head of the BPU (Plt.) Decree as part of strengthening the organizational structure. The appointment of the Acting Head was made to ensure continuity of leadership while accelerating the planning and decision-making process.

“We selected this acting director from the planning field so that planning and execution can go hand in hand, allowing for faster and more accurate business decisions,” the Rector explained.

Acting Head of the Unila BPU, Prof. Ayi, stated that the initial step to be taken is the preparation of a flagship business plan as a roadmap to achieving revenue targets.

“The Rp 15 billion target must be supported by a realistic business plan. We will start with internal improvements, follow up on user complaints, and conduct a comprehensive evaluation of all BPU business units,” he said.

He added that optimizing existing business units, such as guesthouses, sports facilities, canteens, culinary parks, and other supporting services, would be the main focus.

“The potential is there; we just need to maximize it with better governance and better service,” he said.

Meanwhile, Vice Rector of BUK Dr. Habibullah Jimad, SE, M.Si., Unila emphasized the importance of changing the mindset and improving the performance of all BPU employees.

“Achieving Rp 10-14 billion is already much better than before. But the Rp 15 billion target must be a shared motivation. All employees will be evaluated, including possible rotations, to maximize service and productivity,” he said.

In addition to the revenue aspect, the coordination meeting also highlighted improvements in the quality of services and visitor safety, particularly in public facilities such as low-cost apartments, swimming pools, and sports fields.

Improving cleanliness, security, and accident preparedness is a serious priority. Going forward, Unila is also promoting training and workshops for field staff to ensure service and safety standards are me. [Muzamil Kakar)]
