(Unila0: Digital technology is illustrated as two sides of the same coin. The massive digital transformation during the Covid-19 pandemic has positively affected productivity, connectivity, financial inclusion, and access to trade activities and public services.

However, it has also resulted in quite complex challenges, such as, computer-related crimes, data privacy, employee pushback, organizational-structural changes, and intellectual property violations.

Prof. Suharso, vice chancellor for PKTIK Unila, said that the government along with the private sector and community had significant roles in responding the challenges of legal adjustment now inevitably involving digital transformation as an impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.

He insisted his remark when opening the international conference, the 4th International Conference on Fundamental Rights (I-Coffees) 2022 held online and offline at the Swissbell Hotel ballroom, Bandarlampung, Monday, October 3, 2022.

Prof. Suharso hoped that a comprehensive and relevant formulation of recommendation would be a way out of issues with respect to digital transformation with reference to the theme “Digital transformation in post Covid-19 recovery: Ensuring technology serve for the fundamental rights”.

Suharso said that the I-Coffee was the first conference particularly intended to promote publications on legal issues regarding basic rights.

According to him, the main purpose of international conference is not simply to publish articles in journals, but rather as the right moment to improve scientific quality.

On the same occasion, the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Unila, Dr. M. Fakih, hoped that the implementation of I-Coffees 2022 facilitated the discussion of interesting publication.

Not only did the conference provide researchers, academics, and practitioners with an opportunity to share their knowledge and experiences in higher education, but it was the beginning of beneficial cooperation and friendship among fellow participants, researchers, academics, institutions, and practitioners which in turn shaped the future of the world as the form of community service.

The I-Coffee presented five international speakers, Jalil Alejandro Magaldi Serna (Universite Externado de Colombie), Yun Zhao (Univ. of Hongkong), Siska Katalin (University of Debrecen), Andrea Boggio (Bryant University), Anna Isabel Cruz Soares Pinto (University of Lisbon) and one local speaker, Edmon Makarim (University of Indonesia).

There were 154 articles in total with 127 articles for presentation in the conference, and 64 selected articles would be published in the Scopus indexed proceedings. [PR Team]
