(Unila): Team for Monitoring and Evaluation of Community Service Implementation (KKN) Batch I in 2019 led by Rector of Unila, Prof. Hasriadi Mat Akin, visited KKN participants who stayed in a number of villages in West Lampung Regency on Thursday (01/31/2019).
In the visit, Rector of Unila, accompanied by the Vice Rector for Planning, Cooperation, Technology, Information and Communication, the Deans, Head of  Institute for Research and Community Services (LP2M), and Head of BP-KKN, said that KKN was a compulsory program for student lectures.
He explained that KKN has a precious philosophy because young generation is currently encountering the development and maturity phase that nowadays is mostly affected by the gadgets and other devices. “KKN exists not to patronize the community, but it is merely about the study in the community,” said Hasriadi when visiting Pekon Balak, Batu Brak.
This Professor of Faculty of Agriculture added that KKN is expected to accelerate the maturity of student mindsets and hopefully may provide opportunities for students to deepen their competencies. KKN sharpens students’ competencies, skills and empathy on how to live in the community as well as to build their leadership capacity.
“As the world is rapidly changing, students should master three literations; digital, technology, and human literacy. According to the statistics, 70 percent of Unila students are not villagers, hence, they will learn a lesson and be wiser through KKN,” Hasriadi added.
Responding to that, the Head of Batu Brak District, Sri Wiyatmi, expressed her gratitude for Unila’s trust in the implementation of Community Service Program in Batu Brak District. She hopes that Unila might fill  KKN participants in all 11 villages (Pekon) of Batu Brak Districts.
Sri Wiyatmi also revealed that KKN students are very pleasant, kind, and have good quality programs. She hoped that this program will be continued to the next batch so that if Batu Brak has many activities later, the local society will be able to run it as well.
“The energy of youth that is free of politics is much more needed to empower our society,” she added.
The eminent program of KKN students in Batu Brak is focussed on the creative economy including brownies coffee, coffee husk tea, sponge cake coffee, donut coffee, handawi chips, and innovative baskets. Furthermore, the health program are include the elderly posyandu, health check up such as blood pressure, gout, blood sugar, blood pressure, and adequate nutrition test as well as an exercise program for healthy community (PHBS).
