(Unila): The Research and Community Service Center (LPPM), the University of Lampung (Unila), hosted the 2nd International Conference on Social Sciences (ULICoSS) titled “Innovations and Social Development in Society 5.0”.

Dr. Rudy, the secretary of LPPM Unila in his reports pointed out that ULICoSS 2021 refers to an international conference with respect to social sciences that accommodate academics, practitioners, students, and professionals to exchange ideas, experiences, knowledge, and relationships.

The conference, opened on Tuesday, August 30, 2021, at the Ballroom of Emersia Hotel, Bandarlampung, was put in place both online and offline, attended by local and international participants from across the world, such as, Croatia, Philippines, Turkey, Iran, Malaysia, Pakistan.

According to Rudy that the submitted papers that met the requirements for publication would be published in international proceedings global indexed, hopping that the writers took advantages of the event.

Prof. Karomani, the rector of the University of Lampung in the opening session, regarded the conference with the theme, the “Innovations and Social Development in Society 5.0” very important to put in place, insisting that human being is now having great changes with respect to digital transformation, potentially resulting in a rapid shift in industry, customs, culture, and mindset of the society.

The rector encouraged participants to construct sustainable perspectives beneficial for lives of society through the approach, society 5.0.

Karomani also said that society 5.0 refers to the era indicating the most advanced society during the history of human social development by contrast with the four preceding era, ranging from hunter communities, 1.0, agrarian communities, 2.0, industrial communities, 3.0, and information communities, 4.0m, respectively.

According to Karomani, who was also acting as one of ULICoSSs speakers, society 5.0 is characterized by a human-centered society with the concept of innovation contributing to a completely new future society.

It enables society to promote economic growth through the resolution of social problems so that “No One Left Behind” society for better future lives is expected to come true. He encouraged participants from different backgrounds, academics, researchers, practitioners, and students to share their perspectives, experiences, and studies to gain advanced understanding and insights as solutions to social problems.
