Sugeng P. Harianto, M.S.

Accompanying them were Faculty of Agriculture lecturers Inggar Damayanti, S.Hut., M.Si., and Intan Fajar Suri, S.Hut., M.Sc.

A total of 125 participants from various sectors, representing three different universities and ten different study programs, actively engaged on-site. Together with volunteers and local residents, all participants navigated the riverbanks and coastlines to sort and collect waste.

From this coastal clean-up action, the team successfully removed over 2 tons of waste, predominantly consisting of plastic, textile, organic materials, glass, and metal. All collected waste was then handed over to the relevant authorities for transport to the final processing location.

The series of activities continued with the planting of 100 seedlings of Multi-Purpose Tree Species (MPTS) across nine strategically located sites in the Panjang District.

The planting of these tree species is projected to provide ecological functions such as reforestation and prevention of coastal erosion, while also offering economic value to residents when the fruits are harvested in the future.

Through Sylva for Community 2026, Himasylva Unila aims not only to physically clean the environment but also to foster collective awareness among urban communities regarding the importance of conserving coastal ecosystems.

This strong synergy between academics, government, and society is expected to create a healthy, beautiful, and sustainable living environment.
