(Unila): Universitas Lampung (Unila<\/a>) has organised a Sharing Session on Study and Research Opportunities in Germany, held on Monday, 4 May 2026, in the Main Meeting Room on the second floor of the Rectorate.<\/p>\n

The event was inaugurated by the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Eng. Suripto Dwi Yuwono, S.Si., M.T., and was attended by the Vice Rector for Planning, Cooperation, and Information Systems, Prof. Dr. Ayi Ahadiat, S.E., M.B.A., as well as Deans, Directors of Postgraduate Programs, Heads of Institutions, and Heads of Units.<\/p>\n

Also present were Dr. Guido Schnieders (Director of DAAD) and Prof. Tatas H.P. Brutosudormo (Euraxess Worldwide Representative for ASEAN) as keynote speakers who shared insights regarding further studies and research in Germany.<\/p>\n

In his opening remarks, Prof. Suripto expressed appreciation and gratitude for the visit and the sharing session.<\/p>\n

“On this special occasion, I would like to convey that Universitas Lampung is very open to establishing collaborations with all participating institutions,” stated Prof. Suripto.<\/p>\n

Dr. Guido Schnieders revealed that Germany is a highly competitive research destination for Indonesian academics, particularly due to its educational system that does not regard education as a commercial commodity.<\/p>\n

With full support from the German government, public universities there offer free tuition fees and excel in research in the fields of engineering and sustainable development.<\/p>\n

“For us, higher education is not a business, but an obligation by the state,” he asserted.<\/p>\n

In addition to individual scholarships, DAAD encourages institutional collaboration through project funding that facilitates student and lecturer mobility between countries.<\/p>\n

“For most of the programmes, the application deadline is in October, so there is time to gather information and get in contact with our scholarship officers,” he added.<\/p>\n

This meeting reinforces Unila’s commitment to expanding its global network, considering the well-established track record of collaboration with German academics.<\/p>\n

The enthusiasm for various collaborations during this discussion is expected to serve as a catalyst for more ambitious collaborative research projects in the future, particularly within the scope of Unila. [Gandhi Irawan]\n
