This seminar served as a platform to realize Unila’s commitment to making real contributions and having a direct impact on society.

Unila Rektor, Prof. Lusmeilia Afriani, in her remarks said that modern human activities are increasingly dominated by work rather than rest, so that health aspects are often neglected.

According to her, strengthening health literacy, including the introduction of traditional medicine that has been passed down from generation to generation, is a strategic step in building a healthy and prosperous society.

She emphasized that knowledge about health, both modern and traditional, needs to be shared and utilized wisely so that people have more choices in maintaining their quality of life.

“Health is a gift from Allah subhanahu wa taala that must be protected, and knowledge about how to maintain it is a shared responsibility,” Prof. Lusmeilia emphasized.

In line with this, the Acting Chair of BPU Unila, Prof. Ayi Ahadiat, said that this activity is part of Unila’s strategic steps to become an institution that increasingly impacts society.

The presence of proven traditional medicine-based health alternatives, both through discussions with practitioners and medical studies, is a concrete form of Unila’s contribution to addressing public health needs.

He emphasized that this effort is not merely a ceremonial activity, but rather part of a joint effort to ensure that the campus becomes not only a center for scientific development, but also a center for solutions to real problems in society.

The seminar featured Indonesian back massage practitioner Ustadz Abdurachman, as well as Unila Faculty of Medicine lecturer and health practitioner Dr. Anggi Setiorini, M.Sc., AIFO-K, as speakers. The event was attended by members of the Unila academic community, the Unila Dharma Wanita Association, and the general public.

On the same occasion, a Cooperation Agreement (PKS) was also signed between the Unila BPU and the Indonesian Back Massage Community (KTPI) Center, strengthening collaboration in developing education and health services based on traditional medicine.
