(Unila): University of lampung (Unila<\/a>) and the Metro City Government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and inaugurated the French Village \u201cVillage Fran\u00e7ais\u201d on Jalan Merak, Metro City, on Sunday, August 24, 2025.<\/p>\n

The event was attended by the Rector of Unila, Prof. Dr. Ir. Lusmeilia Afriani, D.E.A., IPM, ASEAN Eng., Vice Rector for Finance and General Affairs, Deans, Heads of Bureaus, Heads of Institutions, the Mayor and Vice Mayor of Metro, as well as the Metro City Forkopimda (Regional Leadership Communication Forum) officials.<\/p>\n

In her speech, the Rector of Unila emphasized that this collaboration is an important step in realizing synergy between higher education institutions and local governments.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe University of Lampung, as a higher education institution, has a responsibility to carry out the three pillars of higher education, which include education, research, and community service. Meanwhile, the Metro City Government has a vision and mission to improve the welfare of the community and build a developed, independent, and competitive city,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The Rector added that through this MoU, it is hoped that strategic programs will be realized, including improving the quality of human resources through education and training, research and innovation that support the development of Metro City, as well as community service in various fields such as health, environment, agriculture, creative economy, and governance.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe believe that this collaboration is not merely ceremonial, but rather the beginning of concrete steps that will greatly benefit both parties, especially the people of Metro City,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

In his speech, the Mayor of Metro expressed his appreciation for the collaboration with Unila. According to him, the presence of \u201cVillage Fran\u00e7ais\u201d symbolizes the strengthening of international networks and supports Metro as a city of education.<\/p>\n

He hopes that this program can enrich the community’s knowledge and open up wider opportunities for collaboration in the fields of education and culture.<\/p>\n

The event continued with a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the inauguration of the French Village \u201cVillage Fran\u00e7ais\u201d. This area is expected to become a center for language learning, introduction to French culture, as well as a space for community interaction with an international atmosphere in Metro City.
