The application included a CV, cover letter, and an academic transcript.

Adysti was placed in the Department of KSI Amerop (American and European intraregional and interregional cooperation) with duties concerning media monitoring, meeting minutes, and research data collection. She told other students some tips to be a candidate for internships at the Ministry of foreign affairs.

Applicants are first required to seek the information regarding the department in which they intend to join internship and the current development of relevant foreign issues so that the candidates are more confident to express their interest and motivation during the interview.

Adysti is in charge of monitoring daily developments in the European Union, as the basis for Indonesian diplomacy as well as decision-making in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Minutes of meetings are deemed confidential, while data collection involves seeking information for embassy projects and drafting proposals.

For her, media monitoring was the most challenging task among her various responsibilities, as finding up-to-date information from different regions, especially small or developing countries was highly demanding.

This, she regards, is an opportunity to improve her skills and to expend an extra effort. Language competence, especially in English, plays a very important role during an internship at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Mastering English grammar is absolutely required so that the written reports in media are grammatically correct and they sound English, instead of Indonesian English. The English expressions must be precise in meaning from the translated language (Bahasa Indonesia).

According to her, interaction with individuals from different countries during her internship left a good impression. She took advantage of her meeting with embassy staff from different countries, such as the United States, France, and Poland to learn their cultures and to improve her self-confidence and communication skills, particularly in English.

This interaction also allowed her to see the expertise and insights shared by key figures during events such as Asean Europe Meeting (ASEM) Day. She was challenged to speak in English with important persons and this was a good opportunity for her to improve better public speaking skills.

Reading and writing skills are also required to master for those attending the internship at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to support better performance of doing the tasks.

For her, to maintain motivation and enthusiasm during the internship needs to be always made during joining the internship. This is to overcome fatigue and boredom due to being overwhelmed with works.

She was having one of the most inspiring and a profound moment when appointed a host for the East Asia-Latin America Cooperation forum (FEALAC). She was very impressed with the moment when speaking before the crowds, including important persons, such as West Java Governor, Ridwan Kamil, ambassadors, as well as directors.

This has motivated her to improver her public speaking in English and confidence to interact with important figures in the future. She gained a broader understanding of the world, particularly of the importance of establishing connections and collaborations between individuals, organizations, and countries.

During her attending internship, she studied the dynamics in global affairs and the need for thorough preparation in the field of diplomacy. She also learned the value of collaboration, personal growth, and the importance of honing skills on a small to large scale.

Adysti feels better prepared to face a brighter future with the skills and experience she has gained. Her experience of attending internship is expected to be beneficial to her success in the future.
