They are scheduled to compete against thousands of other teams as a prerequisite to participate in the Pimnas 2021.

Every single leader of 23 teams attended meeting for the briefing from the Vice Rector for Student Affairs and Alumni, Prof. Yulianto, followed by signing the contract of the Student Creativity Program (PKM) on Tuesday, June 15, 2021, in the 4th floor of the Unila Rectorate Building.

The meeting was also attended by the student and alumni work team, BP2M, and the student affairs division both online and in person. Yulianto began his remarks by congratulating and encouraging all group representatives in attendance, hopping that the students would improve the innovativeness, quality, and applicability of their work.

He also suggested that students worked very hard on PKM and did their best, adhering the supervision of their respective lecturers, so that they win tickets to the 34th Pimnas, scheduled in October at the University of North Sumatra (USU). Dr. Mahrus Ali, the national reviewer, provided the students with guidance as a part of Unila’s supports for student groups competing for tickets to the 2021 Pimnas.

This year, some 4,522 student teams from 386 universities across Indonesia received PKM funding in five categories, including PKM-P (research), PKM-K (entrepreneurship), PKM-M (community service), PKM-T (technology), and PKM-KC (KarsaCipta) in 2021.

The funding for PKM amounted to IDR 37.49 billion in total. According to Mahrus, only 5% of thousands of teams funded by the PKM Dikti would be eligible for the Pimnas 2021. Mahrus explained that today’s briefing aimed to equip and mature the entire Unila teams in order to compete in a prestigious creativity competition later this year in Indonesia.

He invited all students, providing them with tips to increase better output of their research so that medals could be achieved as they did last year. At the 33rd Pimnas 2020, two Unila teams won three medals, i.e.,: a gold, a bronze, and a silver medals in the presentation category for PKM Constructive Futuristic Ideas (GFK), and both in Poster categories for PKM Natural Science Research (PE), respectively.

The student creativity programme constitutes an annual event organised by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology’s Directorate of Learning and Student Affairs in collaboration with the Directorate General of Higher Education. The programme was established to foster students’ innovation and creativity through the combination of mastery of science and technology and a strong faith.
